“...has a heft that’s given an eerie quality by fine performances, thoughtful direction and a creepy music soundtrack by Steve Wickham.”
Louis Felperin, The Guardian, July 2019
“Blends archive footage, new interviews, and a courtroom dramatisation – and unveils staggering information and imagery.”
Tom Fordy, The Telegraph
Johnny Gogan teams up with journalist Nick Snow to uncover the conspiracy which concealed the centrality of German technology and personnel to the successful landing of the first man on the moon. The film focuses on the story of engineer Arthur Rudolph who was Operations Director of the Apollo 11 mission and a senior production manager on the war-time V2 missile programme which employed thousands of slave labourers in horrendous conditions. In July 2019, Rudolph was arrested in Toronto on suspicion of participation in War Crimes and became the only one of the so-called Rocket Team headed by Wernher von Braun to face a court of law. As the centre piece of this documentary, Gogan recreates the trial of Arthur Rudolph in an abandoned factory in Sligo, while summoning up the atmosphere of the underground factories in central Germany where the moon landing technology was developed.
